SUBJECTS & PROGRAMS

TUTORING
The classroom curriculum often moves very quickly for many students, and teachers don’t always have the time to provide extra help or support for those in need.
Whether the subject is grade ten mathematics, grade three reading, or grade seven French, we can set up a program to help your child understand and consolidate the concepts and skills necessary for that subject.
If your child is learning to read, or reading to learn, or struggling with reading, our reading programs are specially designed to address any or all of the following skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension strategies, giving your child the tools to be an effective reader. We also provide remedial programs and instruction in the following foundation writing skills: sentence structure, paragraphing, grammar, spelling, the writing process, development of essays and other forms of writing. We are able to provide instruction for students in both English and French Immersion streams.
Through manipulatives, games, pencil and paper, and other instructional approaches, we help students learn basic math concepts and facts. We provide instruction for elementary pupils for all strands identified by the Ontario Ministry of Education curricula guidelines. We also provide the extra teaching, review, reinforcement, and test preparation high school students may require in their math and science courses. Our focus is to teach, review, and reinforce the more challenging aspects of the math curriculum, and to extend our lessons to practise, enrichment, and application. For students who require enrichment programming in these subjects, an evaluation is first carried out, and then a program to suit the child’s needs and interests is carefully designed and implemented.
The best way for students to become successful in their studies is to learn effective study habits. To do so, they must first learn to identify which habits and learning strategies best promote success for their own individual skill set, and then be guided to develop a clear vision and approach to accomplish their goals. ADHD Academic Coaching helps students learn how the symptoms of ADHD play out in their daily lives. Sessions specifically target core skills in planning, time management, goal setting, organization and problem solving. Through weekly one to one sessions, students are guided to develop practical skills to achieve identified goals, build motivation, and foundation skills that are critical for success in school, and life-long learning and living!
We provide academic support for students enrolled in Core French and French Immersion programs at school level. If your child needs support or remediation in reading, writing, comprehension, and grammar, our lessons are carefully designed to target and strengthen these core skills.
